This section takes you from Asplången to Mem by the Baltic Sea. Along the way, you cycle through Söderköping's lively canal harbour where you will find both restaurants and cafes.

Section 7 of the Göta Canal Trail takes you from Lake Asplången to Mem by the Baltic Sea. You will stay on the gravel towpath, which was once used by draught animals towing boats through the canal. Today, it is a cycle path appreciated by families as it has no car traffic, except at route E22 which you need to cross.

Along the way, you will pass several locks where you can witness the exciting spectacle of water lifting or lowering the boats on their journey. At Vänneberga bridge, there is Jolla's cosy café with outdoor seating in the garden of the old bridge keeper's house. There is also a bicycle service station here for those who need it.

In Söderköping there are a large number of cafes and restaurants, and both hotels and hostels for overnight stays. Here is also Smultronstället, with its famous ice cream creations.

In Mem, the Göta Canal trail ends, or begins, and here the boats exit into, or enter from, the Baltic Sea. At Kanalmagasinet, both food and coffee are served, and they also have rooms for those who wish to stay overnight.
