Discover, taste and experience
The new visitor centre will become a hub for stories, flavours and adventures along the Göta Canal.
- Restaurant and café – with both indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the flight of locks.
- Shop – featuring a carefully selected range of handicrafts, books and gifts.
- Information point – with tips and inspiration for your journey, whether you are travelling by bike, boat or car.
- Two unique exhibitions:
“The People, the Machine and the Masterpiece” – an impressive themed exhibition exploring the canal’s engineering, history and the people who made it possible.
“Join the Canal Construction!” – an interactive experience where you can step into the shoes of a canal worker in the 19th century.

The future on historic ground
The location of the visitor centre has been carefully chosen – right in the heart of the canal’s most visited area. Close to the Berg flight of locks, hiking trails, swimming spots and cycle routes, it will be the perfect starting point for exploring the entire Göta Canal.
