This section takes you from Berg's locks, through Linköping, to Lake Asplången. There, you can cross with the help of a bicycle boat because there is no good road to cross the lake.
The sixth section of the Göta Canal trail begins by the famous locks in Berg. It is home to the Göta Canal's largest flight of locks, and the area attracts thousands of visitors every year. From there you cycle towards Linköping, and follow cycle paths through the outskirts of the city towards Norsholm. If you would like to make a detour into Linköping, you will find every imaginable amenity and activity, restaurants, museums, shops and accommodation.
In Norsholm you will find a lock café and Kapten Bille's, offering a hostel, restaurant, mini golf and canoes for hire. From there you cycle on the gravelled canal bank on the south side of the canal. On the way you pass picturesque Brådtom, where there is a café and accommodation in the old lock keeper's cabin.
At the lock in Hulta you can board a bicycle boat, as there is no good road connection past Lake Asplången. The boat operates on the lake during the summer months and tickets can be booked at www.gotakanal.se .
