Product description

Vassbacken's guest harbour is located by the so-called Berg Canal, where the Göta Canal had to be blasted through the rock and therefore became narrower than in other sections. It is a picturesque place, lushly nestled by the Vassbacken bridge.

The guest harbour has 25 berths and 12 6A electrical sockets. The amenities building is shared with the campsite and has toilets, showers and a laundry room. There is also a café and restaurant here.

Historical fact
In the 19th century, Vassbacken became an important junction between the canal and the road. The mail stagecoach began stopping here on its way between Mariestad and Karlsborg, and the need for a post office arose. In 1830, the small log house in the harbour was equipped with barred windows so that it could be used as a post office, and the lock inspector was also instated as postmaster. Today, the house is owned by Moholm's local history association, and they keep it open as a museum during the summer.
