Mem's guest harbour - the gateway to the east

Mem is the Göta Canal's gateway to the Baltic Sea. This will be your first stop if you're coming from the east, or a good last stop before you leave to go on.

Product description

In Mem the canal adventure begins for boaters coming from the east, here, they encounter the first lock of their canal journey. It was also here that the entire canal facility was inaugurated in 1832 by King Charles XIV John. The beautiful harbour warehouse has been preserved and restored and now houses the Kanalmagasinet Boarding House & Glamping which also has a café and restaurant.

The guest harbour is located inside Mem's lock and has 25 guest harbour berths and 8 6A electrical outlets. Guest harbour amenities including toilets, showers and a laundry room are also located here. Outside the lock is a simpler quay where you can spend the night while waiting to check in to your canal journey.

When checking in, you dock the boat at the dock outside the lock and go into the canal office where the lock master will help you. There you will also receive information materials and service cards that give access to guest harbour services.
