Brewery Tour and Beer Tasting at Vreta Kloster Brewery
Enhance your visit along the Göta Canal with a beer tasting at one of Sweden’s most unique – and currently most talked-about – breweries. At Vreta Kloster Brewery, we produce the kind of beer still brewed today by monks in Belgium – in other words, exclusively Belgian-style beers. Several of our brews have won some of the most prestigious international awards, competing with breweries from Belgium and around the world.

At Vreta Monastery Brewery Taproom we offer food and drinks in a unique environment just a stone's throw from the Göta Canal and Berg's locks. We also offer a range of activities:

One of Sweden's most internationally award-winning breweries
The brewery is located in Vreta Monastery parish only 800 meters from the ruins of Sweden's oldest monastery - Vreta Monastery. The monastery was active from 1101 to 1582. The nuns brewed and drank beer here. Today, Belgian-style beer is brewed here, several varieties of which have won medals in Europe's largest and most prestigious beer competitions.
Brewery tour during the summer
During the summer opening hours it is possible to book a guided tour of the brewery with farm sales at 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM. The tour takes about 30–40 minutes and is in Swedish and English.
In connection with the guided tour, you can sit down in our taproom for a bite to eat and to try our beer. In addition, if you are at least 20 years old, you can buy up to 3 liters of our strong beer to take home with you after the guided tour. The price includes the guided tour. Food, drinks and beer can be purchased on site.
Brewery tour with beer tasting September to May
We regularly arrange brewery tours with beer tastings throughout the year, where you can try 7 of our beers for just over 1.5 hours along with light snacks under the guidance of our knowledgeable tasting leaders. Dates are updated regularly. Age limit 18 years.
Live gigs
We regularly arrange live gigs throughout the year. Some of these are free admission, others require a pre-purchased ticket. You can find all gigs on our events page. Here you can also buy tickets for gigs where a ticket is required.
In the summer, admission is always free except on June 27 and August 8.

We are open from June 24 to August 8 as follows:
Sunday - Monday: Closed
Tuesday: 15.00-20.00
Wednesday: 15.00-20.00
Thursday: 15.00-20.00
Friday: 15.00-21.00
Saturday: 15.00-21.00
During live performances, the opening hours are slightly longer.
Note that a pre-purchased ticket is required for admission to us on June 27 (concert with David Urwitz) and August 8 (Festum Vretensis – Linköping's coziest music, culture and beer festival with, among others, Per Persson & Nya Packet, Hästpojken, Sanna Carlstedt and Linda Davidsson)
Location
Vreta Kloster Brewery is located 2 km from the Berg Locks – a 25-minute walk or 7-minute bike ride. Part of the route follows the Göta Canal.
