The canal Cruise to Stegeborg with M/S Athene

From the guest harbour in Söderköping, you can enjoy a canal cruise of just over five hours, including a stop at Stegeborg.

We pass through the Söderköping, Tegelbruket and Mem locks before cruising out onto Slätbaken, the beginning of the archipelago. As we enter the narrow inlet, we moor at the small islet that once blocked the entrance to Söderköping. We stop at Stegeborg Harbour for one hour. Take a walk around the castle ruins, stroll through the striking oak landscapes, or perhaps enjoy an ice cream or a beer in the harbour. At 14:15 we depart back towards the canal and Söderköping.

On board M/S Athene you can enjoy a summer lunch, light refreshments, and drinks while being guided through the scenery (lunch must be pre-booked). The trip is perfect for families with children as well as anyone wishing to take a day excursion to experience the Göta Canal from the water.

About M/S Athene

Athene was built as a private pleasure yacht in 1915 and converted into a passenger vessel in the 1930s. She has been carefully renovated over the years.

• Cold-smoked salmon with Sandefjord sauce, new potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Meal drink plus coffee and cake included.

• Athene’s double-marinated sliced beef with herb fraîche, new potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Meal drink plus coffee and biscuit included.

• For children: Pancakes with jam and cream. Meal drink included.

Parking

For parking in Söderköping, we recommend Stinsen / Resecentrum on Margaretagatan, approximately 400 metres from the canal harbour.

Other information

Dogs are welcome on board. Guests with dogs are seated in the aft saloon or on the sun deck.

The trip runs according to timetable even with few bookings.

Coffee, light refreshments, and snacks are available to purchase in the on-board bar.
