Product description

Formal name: Krigsmakten/The Armed Forces
Built: 1821
Technical facts:The double lock has a rise of 5.1 metres. Hajstorp is home to the residence of the Head of Canal Engineering, now privately owned. The house was built in 1902 and is a defining feature of the Hajstorp canal environment. It was designed by architect F A Wahlström, who hailed from the area. Adjacent to the residence lies a coach driver’s house, a coach house, stables, a cow shed and a washhouse. Hajstorp was the main locality on the Västergötland section of the canal up until 1976 and therefore also has workshops, warehouses and storage facilities. In Hajstorp you will also find a rare, preserved example of one of the Motala Workshop retractable bridges. The oldest parts of the retractable bridge may date back to the 1830’s.
