Motala harbour - one of the canal's largest guest harbours

The guest harbour in Motala is one of the Göta Canal's largest and is located at the inlet from Lake Vättern. In summer, it is often brimming with people, and both boaters and landlubbers gather at the outdoor restaurants.

Product description

With its 47 guest harbour berths, Motala is one of the canal's largest guest harbours. It is popular with boaters and landlubbers alike and attracts many visitors during the summer.

Things to see and do by the harbour
By the harbour there are several cafés and restaurants as well as summer stalls with sales and bicycle rental. Also, Motala's town centre with services and shops is only a stone's throw away.

Other things to see and do are:

  • Motala Motormuseum, a true nostalgia museum that tends to be appreciated by both young and old alike.

  • M/S Kung Sverker, which takes tours on the Göta Canal and evening cruises on Lake Vättern with music, has this harbour as its home port.

  • Buy a canal ticket
For those who do not have a Göta Canal ticket, during high season, the harbour fee is paid to the lock keeper in the small yellow Canal Office on the south side of the bridge. The office is staffed from 9AM to 6PM. At other times, the fee is paid at Hamnkrogen, which is located next to the guest harbour amenities.

  • Price information
5 days in the guest harbor are included for boats with a ticket for the Göta Canal. For nights in addition, and for boats without a valid canal ticket, the cost is 240 SEK/night or 1200 SEK/week.
