The rest stop at Skarpåsen has a fire pit and is located just on the canal bank. Here the canal narrows, and there are two pairs of regulating gates that can be closed if any part of the canal needs to be emptied of water.

Just nearby is also the Skarpåsen irrigation facility. It was built to irrigate the meadows beside the canal. From there, the water was released through a hatch, and via further hatches the farmer could then choose which meadow was to be watered.
