Cycle along the Göta Canal and Lake Vänern and enjoy every moment of your journey - this is truly a vacation. You will experience fantastic food and comfortable accommodations in Sjötorp with full board. Everything during the trip happens just a few meters from the Göta Canal. The bikes are 3-speed, and bike service is included in case of any issues.
This is the perfect cycling package for those who want to enjoy a luxurious experience with three 2-course dinners and a relaxing journey along the Göta Canal and Lake Vänern.
 
Day 1 (30 km)
Bikes are available for pick-up from 09:00 at Sjötorps Bike Rental, north of the canal bridge. The recommended start time is 10:00. You will cycle along the historic towpath of the Göta Canal, where horses and oxen once pulled boats. Soon, it may be time to enjoy the delicious packed lunch provided by our local fishmonger, Maltes Fisk.
After 7 km of cycling, you will reach Lyrestad, and after about 10 km, you will arrive at Norrkvarn's lock area, featuring a miniature version of the Göta Canal for children to explore. This is a great place to take a break, relax by the canal, and enjoy the playful atmosphere with tree stump trolls and mini canal adventures. If you still have energy, you can continue for 4 km to Hajstorp, one of the gems of the Göta Canal. Here, you will find a cozy café and a handicraft shop. When you're ready, cycle back to Sjötorp, making stops at any places you might have missed earlier in the day.
Upon arrival in Sjötorp, store your bike for the night and check into your accommodation just a short walk away. A well-deserved 2-course dinner awaits at the local fish restaurant, Perssons i Backen, which offers a stunning view of Lake Vänern and the Göta Canal. The special menu includes the popular Fish and Chips made with locally caught pike-perch and served with a vendace roe sauce. Accommodation is provided at Perssons i Backens Pensionat, just 75 meters from the restaurant, where you will also enjoy a delightful breakfast buffet the next morning.
 
Day 2 (26 km)
After breakfast, collect your packed lunch and embark on a scenic ride along Lake Vänern, a designated national cycling route. Along the way, you will find plenty of swimming spots. A recommended detour is the Blomsterleden, a picturesque 26 km cycle route. Ask for maps when you collect your bike. Upon returning to Sjötorp, take some time to explore this charming village before enjoying another delicious 2-course dinner.
 
Day 3 (Boat Cruise)
After enjoying your breakfast buffet, board the M/S Bellevue at 10:30 from Sjötorp's Guest Harbor. The boat departs on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Onboard, you will experience the Göta Canal from a unique perspective, cruising peacefully through 16 locks before arriving in Töreboda. Upon arrival, a bus will take you back to Sjötorp, where your accommodation and another delightful 2-course dinner await.

Good to Know Before Your Trip:
The recommended start time is 10:00 to make the most of your journey. Check-in takes place at Sjötorps Bike Rental.
Maps and a cooler bag are provided at Sjötorps Bike Rental. Address: Slussvägen 110.
Parking: The best place to park is at Perssons i Backens Pensionat, right by the accommodation. Address:Sjöfallsvägen 6. From here, it's about a 100-meter walk to Sjötorps Bike Rental.
Room check-in is available from 15:00. Keys can be collected from Perssons i Backen. Address: Stenbordsvägen 1. Check-out is at 11:00
