Norrqvarn Hotel & Conference at Norrqvarn's lock area is an attractive tourist destination. Here you can find a great variety of places to stay, conference halls and facilities, activities for all, good food - all of this in the setting of Göta Canal.
History
The large, yellow building at the Norrkvarn lock was originally one of Göta Canal's mills. Nowadays there is a unique centre here with places to stay, a restaurant with a lovely open-air area at the quayside, the Children's Mini-Canal, Magic Tree Stumps and a guest harbour.
Hotel Norrqvarn
The hotel with its view of the Göta Canal and the locks houses a newly decorated section with lovely hotel rooms in a light design, a conference hall, a festive salon and a restaurant.
Restaurant
During the high-season in summer the restaurant is open on all days and all evenings. Lunch on Norrqvarn's Quay, with a view of the bustling boats, or a relaxing supper on a summer’s evening; these are a couple of the choices available. In the restaurant we aim to promote the local produce that comes from Skaraborg. The menus follow the seasons and there is also always a good menu for the children at reasonable prices.
Magic tree stumps and activities
The habitable magic tree stumps attract both adults and children looking for an adventurous place to stay. It is like staying in a fairyland.
The Mini-Canal is a representation of the Västgöta (western) side of the Göta Canal in its entirety and encourages splashing and playing. This is also where you can look for the lake monster, Baby Nessie.
Rent a bicycle and take a trip to Sjötorp or Töreboda; discover the beauty of the canal settings no matter what the season.
In the autumn and winter there is a wood-fuelled sauna and a hot bathing tub on the quay. Just take some time to enjoy the simple things in life.
If you belong to a group of people who would like to have activities together we can arrange pentathlon contests, gps-orientation or different kinds of tasting or cookery courses.
