Loddby Bridge

Motala, Söderköping

The first bridge built in Loddby was already in position by 1827, but was damaged beyond repair by a canal boat in 1834.

The culvert between Loddby and Vänneberga was earlier used as a path by the local inhabitants. It was originally intended for meltwater in the spring, which falls in torrents from the hill above.

Built: The bridge was built in 1972 and replaced an older bridge built of cast iron.

Type: Rolling bridge

Technical facts: This is an electrically operated rolling bridge which is remote-controlled from Snövelstorp.
