Rogstorp Bridge

Motala, Mariestad

The yellow bridgekeeper’s cottage was built in 1863. In 1888, Lars Johansson moved in and lived to see the invention of the canal telephone, which was connected to his cottage in 1913. The telephone enabled Johansson to quickly get in touch with the Lock Superintendent’s office whenever necessary.

Built: 1993

Type: Rolling bridge

Technical facts: This modern rolling bridge is a copy of the older bridges built by Motala Verkstad. The result is a combination of the older bridges’ aesthetics and modern techniques.
