Lövsäng Bridge

Motala, Töreboda

In 1934, the canal sprang a major leak here at Lövsäng and a section six kilometres long was drained. The cause was a layer of stones and gravel beneath the canal through which the water was easily able to escape. Extensive improvements were needed before the waterway could be returned to its original condition.

Built: Probably at the beginning of the 1830s

Technical facts:  The bridge is built of cast iron and is remote-controlled from Töreboda.
