Day 1
Läckö Castle - Lidköping - Töreboda (10 mil, drive)

The tour starts on the island of Kålland with a visit to Läckö Castle. On this four-day Skaraborg trip, you will experience unique nature and cultural experiences. A guided tour of Läckö Castle awaits you. The castle is a breathtaking baroque gem, built on medieval foundations. Ever since 1298, there has been a castle on the cliff by Lake Vänern, surrounded by water. After this breathtaking historical visit, you head towards Töreboda and the Göta Canal. On the journey to Töreboda, the journey goes over Kinnekulle. Kinnekulle is a mesa on the southeastern shore of Lake Vänern with a maximum altitude of 306 meters above sea level. Magnificent views and magical nature await you. In Töreboda, you check in at Pensionat Prästgården and dinner is served at Mandy's Diner - an authentic American diner in the middle of Töreboda near the Göta Canal. Here they play rock ́n ́ roll music in a nice 50's and 60's atmosphere.

Day 2
Göta canal Töreboda - Sjötorp- Töreboda ( 40 km, with bike)

Today it's time to experience and explore the Göta Canal, one of Sweden's largest buildings and attractions. A bike ride from Töreboda to Sjötorp and back awaits. Here you will take your bike on completely car-free cycle paths right next to the canal edge. On the tour you will pass several small, lovely places well worth stopping at. During the bike ride to Sjötorp you pass no less than 16 locks. In Sjötorp, lunch is served at Café Baltzar and a visit to the Göta Canal Museum is also included. Back in Töreboda, a good dinner and a comfortable bed awaits.

Day 3
Töreboda - Karlsborg (4 mil, drive)

Today it's time to drive to Karlsborg, a journey of about 40 km. A mile before Karlsborg is Forsvik, which is worth a visit. In Forsvik you can visit the oldest lock on the Göta Canal and pay a visit to Forsviks Bruk. There is a railway station, historic buildings, and exciting exhibitions. Forsviks Bruk has a 600-year-long history, and this is where Skaraborgs Fort was founded. Continue to Karlsborg, which is still called Sweden's reserve capital, this was where the state's gold reserves would be stored in the event of war. Check-in at Hotell Wettern, which is located between Lake Vättern and Lake Bottensjön. Stroll around in Karlsborg. Here you are always surrounded by water. Both Lake Vättern and Lake Bottensjön give Karlsborg its special character and it is easy to get hungry for swimming here.

Day 4
Karlsborg

Today, an exciting visit to Kalsborg Fortress awaits. The guide will take you on a journey back to the 1800s. Karlsborg Fortress stands firmly on the cape of Vanäs in Lake Vättern, which is one of the largest and best-preserved fortresses in Sweden. During the 1800s, it was planned that Karlsborg would have the role of Sweden's reserve capital and be the seat of the royal family, government, parliament, and gold reserve in times of war. Feel free to visit the museum, the Garrison Church and walk along the wall and preferably out to Vanäs lighthouse. From Karlsborg you get to see the fastest, shortest, or longest route to your next destination.
