Göta Canal charges 2012

You can travel the Göta Canal in your own boat in many ways. The price is according to the size of the boat and how far you travel. 

The entire Göta Canal Mem - Sjötorp, or vice versa.

Lake to Lake - when you travel these stretches of the Göta Canal:

Mem-Norsholm (Baltic-Roxen), or vice versa.
Berg-Motala (Roxen-Vättern), or vice versa.
Karlsborg-Sjötorp (Vättern-Vänern), or vice versa.

Per lock - if you only want to travel a short distance. Double locks are counted as two locks, etc. 

Göta Canal Express ticket  - for fast transport between Mem and Sjötorp or vice versa in three days during the booking season only.

21 marinas are included in the canal fee
Your Göta Canal ticket includes a great marina package: All 21 marinas in the Göta Canal, including shower, toilet and electrical hook-ups (limited number). Five nights per marina. Does not apply with a "Per Lock" ticket.

Boat size: The amount of space your boat takes in the lock, including features such as a dive platform. We will measure your boat when you pay for your canal ticket or retrieve your pre-paid canal ticket at the first lock.

The Göta Canal Express tickets can only be purchased 4 May - 3 June and 24 August - 30 September 2012. Book no later than three weekdays prior.

On arrival at the canal
You can buy your ticket when you arrive to the Göta Canal, Mem or Sjötorp. On site you must pay with a credit card (not American Express or Diners Club).
Note: We don't accept cash.

If you buy a Round trip ticket (Lake to Lake or Entire Göta Canal), it serves as a season ticket for an unlimited number of canal trips with the same captain and boat, 4 May - 30 September 2012. 

All tickets are personal and apply to the same skipper and boat. In addition to the ticket, you receive a decal to be affixed in a highly visible place on the boat so the lock keeper can easily see it. All tickets are valid for the 2012 season. Tickets are not refunded once the journey has begun. Special terms apply for companies that rent out boats.

No fee for canoes on the Göta Canal. For safety reasons, lockage with canoes is not permitted.

Many pleasure boats travelling the Göta Canal continue to travel across Sweden to the opposite coast. This takes them through another canal, the Trollhätte Canal, between Lake Vänern and Gothenburg.

The cost for passing the Trollhätte Canal with a leisure boat is SEK 860.

Payment is due in lock 3 at the Central in Trollhättan. Credit cards are accepted.
