Karta Göta kanal, översikt

The Göta Canal stretches from Mem on an inlet of the Baltic near Söderköping, through Lake Vättern to Sjötorp on Lake Vänern. Together with the Trollhätte Canal, the Göta Canal forms a continuous waterway through Sweden from coast to coast.

Facts for cyclists

The western part of the Göta Canal: Sjötorp - Karlsborg
(Lake Vänern - Lake Vättern), is 75 km.

There is no boat transport available across Lake Vättern.
The distance from Karlsborg to Motala, north of Lake Vättern is 100 km.

The eastern part of the Göta Canal: Motala - Mem (Lake Vättern - the Baltic),
is  120 km.
