Coarse fishing on the Viken lake

The Viken fish conservation area covers the whole of the Viken lake as well as the Göta Canal up to the first lock.
Viken covers an area of 4,000 ha and is surrounded by beautiful countryside around the shoreline. The Göta Canal flows through the lake, so there is a continual change in the fishing conditions which provides some rewarding fishing.

Viken is best known for its good stocks of pike, perch and roach, but trout and zander can also be caught. Generally the fishing is best along the reedbeds which can be found along parts of the shoreline.
Fishing over both the shallow and deeper areas can also give good catches at times.

Boats can be hired. Young people up to the age of 15 can fish free of charge.
