Hajstorp Slusscafé

Hajstorp Slusscafé is today a well-liked café in a genuine lock environment alongside Göta Canal. You can treat yourself to ice cream, home-made cookies, sandwiches and filling pies. All of it is locally produced from companies in the nearby surroundings. We work with a fair trade and ecological mindset. Coffee and tea is served is hand-thrown mugs from Borreboda Pottery.

In Hajstorp you can also find "Hantverkarna kring Kanalen" (The Crafters around the canal) with their summer exhibition in the warehouse. Here you can buy good quality arts and crafts products Upstairs in the warehouse is the exhibition showing the life of a farming family one hundred years ago.

Veteran vehicle meetings are held every second Wednesday evening during the summer. The smithy is open on the first Wednesday of the month and during the veteran vehicle meetings.

Why not discover the Göta Canal with a rented bicycle and a packed lunch; it's easy cycling and the experience is fantastic. Guided cultural canoeing is another alternative.

The Culture and Harvest Festival in the third weekend of September

Hajstorp is a well-preserved lock community by the Göta Canal and the little village consists of a number of old wooden buildings. Up until 1976 Hajstorp was the main town for Västgötalinjen (the oldest stretch of Göta Canal). The Canal Engineer Villa from 1902 is still well-preserved, but privately owned. At the harbour basin there's Smedjan (the smithy) and the typical green and white roller bridge.
