Kajak on the Göta Canal and the Motala River

Borensberg, Motala

Welcome to an old Glasswork which are now turned into a Hostel. Located in Borensberg, with Gota Canal and Motala Ström (rapids) extremely close. Here you can get out the door and have nature all around you.

From our hostel Glasbruket you begin to paddle a kajak in the Gota Canal to Lake Boren, take a trip on the lake and continue to paddle through Motala River back to Glasbruket again. The trip takes at least 1 hours but can be a full-day experience.

Along the journey, you can find beautiful picnic and swimming areas
and watch the boats in the canal.

Rent canoe for 1 day for 2 persons SEK 450

Includes 1 day rent, 2 paddles, 2 life wests and 2 lunch boxes

Public transportation

The Bus is also between Linkoping and Motala http://ostgotatrafiken.se/en/OstgotaTrafiken-in-english/ With bus you arrive in Borensberg Centrum, 1,2 km from the hostel. Follow signs to Göta Kanal and then Vandrarhem Glasbruket. Walk over the first bridge and continue the small road, while keeping the Canal at your right.


  • Do not forget swimwear and a towel.
  • The kajak needs to be lifted out of the water 1-2 times

From Linkoping: Drive road 34 against Motala and vice versa if you come from Motala.
Exit towards Borensberg. Follow sign saying Göta Kanal and when in centrum you see signs to Vandrarhem Glasbruket. Follow a mud road by the canal about 1 km and you arrive! The parking is free
