Sörby Bridge

Built: 1970.

Technical facts: Like many other bridges on the Göta Canal, this is a rolling bridge. It is remote-controlled from Ruda and is carried by rollers on a concrete foundation.

History of the bridge

There was already a wooden bridge in Sörby in 1825, but this was replaced in 1848 by a bridge of iron and oak. Sörby Bridge was electrified in 1953 and was replaced in 1970 with the help of grants from the County Council and Highways Department.
